GTP style louvers
 

Could you ... would you... cut holes in your hood!?! lol

I am debating showing my love for Pontiac and Jeep at the same time. With some GTP hood louvers to get some of that hot air out! I saw a Liberty with these installed and it looked really good to me, I like the functional aspect as well.

Even though I think they look really great, in our climates it could cause water/ice problems. If I was rich enough, I wold have two hoods, the stock hood for winter and for the summer, a full on, louvered on the sides hood with full time small intake ram scoop in the front, with a functional air intake...!!!!!
Any Luck With EVIC ?? Got your oil and filter done? Did you find the Piaa lights?
Had mine off road today, what a treat...real mud holes too..can I BORROW A POWER WASHER , need to get under, and get the half inch of sludge scraped off the skid plates..... !!!

Yes Sir ... and Wow! what a difference in acceleration and just plain smooth runnin'. NGK Iridiums, Mobil1 and K&N oil filter all went in today ... and I had my tires balanced yesterday. It's like a whole new Jeep.

I was wondering about the water issues too, but the Louvers have drip pans under the hood ... as long as they drain somewhere appropriate it shouldn't be a problem. I mean people do drive Grand Am's and Grand Prix's in the winter so I would hope they (Pontiac) had planned for ice and snow and water.

Sorry no Power washer here ... lol .. you have to leave the dirt on for atleast a day or two T! ...lol ... After all "A clean Jeep is an neglected Jeep" ! Props to whoever I borrowed that from, I read it somewhere :o)

No luck on the EVIC yet. BUT I found my PIAA's, just have to make time for a trip to get them!

Glad you got the tune up done, how difficult was that plug replacement, how long extensions, and what was the numbers on those NGK Iridiums part #?

I think the side louvres on the sides may be a bit much, but who knows unti ya see one, like that??
Did you get some snow?

I am sure with the colder weather the jeep will fully enjoy the synthetic and your tune up..Next Some Piaa's and you are all set with maybe some winter Teflon wiper blades........T.

Those are nice side vents, I was thinking about installing them on the top of the hood though. The same application as the Grand Am GTP's. I let the ones on ebay go this time ($80). But I think I won't be able to resist for long :o

P.S. Don't give me too much credit (or maybe you should) I read a post on one of the forums the very morning I was going to start the spark plug change. The poster was frustrated because he had just changed the oil and plugs and 2 weeks later he is having major problems with his KJ. That was enough to get me to inquire at my dealership about the labour cost. I decided that 90 bucks was well worth the peace of mind and saving my knuckles from being split ....again! I picked up the plugs and let them install them. Needed to get the tires balanced anyway so got it all done at once. It ended up taking me hours just to get the oil filter and drain plug out for the oil change do they torque these things with power tools or what!?!

No snow yet, but I got my winter blades I just by the cheapo $8 blades from Crappy Tire and use RainX on the windshield. I have found that they all wear just about the same so I won't pay the premium price.

PS Those custom hoods are awesome as long as your not up to your hood line in a water crossing ..lol. Very Slick looking I have seen a couple KJ's with that hood on the forums.

Well I can appreciate you got it to the dealers for the work , but I know I will be doing mine next year in the spring on my own, cause I want to know how it goes. It is always the most difficult the first time you do it.
If and when Luke yo ever do the hood mod, would love to see the photos. By the way, the drain plug should be screwed in by hand, and only slight turn to tighten. I always clean every thread by hand before putting it back in and inspect the sealing washer, even though when I did mine, can not remember that washer or much about it.
Luckily the Liberty heats up rather quickly, and -45 windshield washer fluid can be found that wont freeze up on contact when it's cold out. (or might not) I always add a bit of 20-10 in the green bottle, from crap tire, as it really helps keep the streaks and grease off, when the muck is flying from snow.
No Piaa's yet..your going to like those......T
