DE-Carb and Mass Airflow Sensor clean instructions

I did a search but didn't find what I want. If there is a faq I'd love a pointer.

I have a 2010 liberty with 60,000kms. Yesterday during an oilchange (I get them to do it in the winter) the dealer told me it's due for a "De-Carb" and MAS cleaning. They wanted $250. I think this is something I can do myself. Are there any instructions here?

I guess things are pretty slow around here.

Ya the dealer want tons for lots of things but they do have the right equipment for the job.
A complete emission service can be done with professional correct chemicals, but ask if they also remove the throttle body for cleaning with it for $250.
Unless the vehicle is throwing CE (engine light codes) at only 36k miles it probably is not necessary.
AS long as the Jeep idles evenly (smooth no stumbles, even rpm) and you change the spark plugs every 30,000 km and recommend you use Chevron fuel with techron as it is an excellent engine/fuel system cleaner. A concentrate bottle of Techron http://www.chevron.com/products/cana...tives/tcp.aspx can be found at Chevron stations, possibly at some parts stores or Wall Mart, and can be added to a half a tank of fuel or two bottles to a full tank, with highway drives. (feel the power after it's clean) City driving does carbon up things! Get the jeep onto the highway more if you are all city driving.
The intake air control (controls idle) & ports as well as the Throttle position sensor & ports can be cleaned with throttle body spray cleaner to keep things in check. You can use the spray cleaner also inside the throttle body itself by removing the intake hose and move the throttle butterfly plate door open and get it clean in there as well. If you need more info on the IAC and TPS cleaning I can find another link send me a private message. Hope this helps. By the way I run Chevron 94 octane in winter because it does not contain ethanol (absorbs moisture) who needs water in gas anyways. The jeep does run better with non ethanol 94 octane Chevron fuels..ya it is more money but will reward ya with a cleaner fuel system & better mileage.:smokin:

Great feedback TC, Thanks.

It does shudder just a tiny bit at idle when cold. Nothing other than thats. I'll get a local garage to do the cleaning then change the plugs.

Cheers
