2008 Jeep liberty

I have owned my 2008 Liberty sport for only 3 months now, and have a question about the tires. It has the stock p225 r75 16 Goodyear wrangler st. I was wondering how these tires do in the ice and snow. Are they any good? Or should I be looking at a different type of all seasons. Space is very limited for me so buying a set of purely winter tires is not an option.
Thanks in advance
James

Hey
Hope your enjoying it so far! I have a 09' North Edition with the same tires... They ain't so great in the snow! Have you gone out when it was raining really bad? Your from Victoria so I would imagine so. They hold up better on the snow than they do in the rain hands down! so that tells you they ain't that great.
I'm still just gonna drive safe for now & wait until I put 25K on them then I'll switch it up to a better pair of all seasons. If you have kids maybe you should look at getting a new pair sooner then l8r though.

Cheers,
Klooty

Re: 2008 Jeep liberty

I found that the stock tires were ok for summer wear, but were limited traction in rain, especially on upward steep hills. I sold my stock tires for $300 and purchased in October Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor. (kevlar belted) I would never consider stock tires for winter and like last year in Vancouver, it was best to have a snow flake rated tire that would get me safely to work, even in 3 feet of snow on the ground. The sidewalls on the silent armors are much stronger than most, were very quiet, and were excellent in snow.
Any decent AT tire would be good for snow. I consider all season radials summer in general.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I think that is what my '04 came with, too. I didn't find them very good at all in the snow so I went for a set of Hercules Terra Trac A/T. No more problems in the snow and I can go for a romp off-road any time I want now.

I was very upset to see that after 40k I was soon going to have to replace the factory tires as I was at the wear bars.... Solved that problem though by wrapping her around a tree.... Jeep saved my life but I like the Dakota V8 better...LOL
