08 Limited towing capacity
 

Hi there,

I have a 2008 Limited Liberty with the tow package. I am looking at acquiring a 19' travel trailer that has a dry weight of 3200lbs with a 30 gallon water holding tank. This trailer is about as light as I can find (for a tt). I expect we will be travelling on mostly flat roads with reasonable inclines/declines etc. Although my vehicle is rated to tow 5000lbs (easily, according to the website), I am concerned about the strain on the engine/transmission etc. Any thoughts/input/feedback would be greatly appreciated! Since you say your vehicle is rated at 5000 (its never that weight anyways always a little higher) but being rated at the weight everything is taken into account so I don't see the worry unless your going much higher than a rated weight

Some folks who tow regularly will have an aux tranny cooler installed (not sure if that is included in your tow pkg..) and maybe a brake controller depending on what brakes are installed on the trailer (surge vs electric).

FWIW...the max towing specs always say something to the effect of 'when properly equipped' ...(ie. brake controller, weight distributing hitch assembly, properly loaded trailer..etc)
