Winter Tires for 2011 JK
Just ordered 16 inch rims and bought winter tires for my JK (225/75R16). All Seasons are 255/75R17; but the standard tire for the sport is a 16 and I wanted to save a little cash. Didn't like the feel of my all seasons in the slush and such and the roads here in NB can be a little questionable at times. Any points or issues with the tire size difference other then the speed difference.

Re: Winter Tires for 2011 JK
Shouldn't be a problem other then the smaller tire may be harder on gas dependent on how much shorter they are then your stock tires. You also have reduced your ground clearance with a smaller tire which could be an issue in deep snow..
Other then that you should not have any mechanical issues. |
Re: Winter Tires for 2011 JK
Jeff,
Thanks; the 225/75R16 was standard on the 2011 Wrangler Sport, so it should be okay. Not overly worried about clearence, only loose an inch or so. |
Re: Winter Tires for 2011 JK
Winter tires and rims on!! According to wheel calculators my speedo should be reading slow i.e. if I'm drivin at 100 km/hr I'm actually doing 110 km/hr but it doesn,'t seem like it. Is it possible for the jeep computer to auto correct? I have access to a OBD computer and plan to check settings after New Years.

Hey my,
For a quick check and to determine a "fudge factor" in the meantime, just borrow someone's GPS. They're probably more accurate than the speedo anyway. Peter |
