What should I check before taking delivery of a new 2012?

Hello Everybody,

I'm looking for some advise. What should I check before taking ownership of the 2012, 2-door Sport S I ordered? Obviously I'm looking to make sure I don't have paint chips or scratches, that all the options are there (i.e both tops), but I don't really know what else I am looking for.

Please help.

Thank you,

Here is a PDF for a 2012 Wrangler. Page 17 has a checklist for you:)

Typically a few loose items. If you have dual top, 2 boxes, one is the windows the other, the door surround brackets. Freedom top panel bag, manual/warranty in a little pouch, usually the glove box if not in the center console, lastly a dealer option if you have locking lug nuts, there should be a hanging pack of the corresponding keys for them. Almsot forgot, a second key to the actual jeep as well. Otherwise not much, some people crawl under the jeep with a camera and flash light looking for "things", check the fluids of everything in the engine bay, test the 4 wheel drive, the lockers, disconnects if its a Rubicon, all a waste of time in my opinion, either it works or it doesn't if it doesn't its under warranty.

If you have bluetooth option, you can ask the dealer to help you connect your phone with the radio. Not complicated but it will save you some time and reading :)

The most common missing item that i've heard and experienced is the hardware for the softtop. Other than that, it's really up to you and your comfort level.

Mine had a 4 inch long scratch on the black textured fender that was clearly touched up with paint. I pointed it out, they said they had no idea it was there (odd, since it was touched up by someone). I had them replace my fender right away. Im glad i noticed it before pulling off the lot.

Same for me, no hardware kit for the top. In fact, what you need is a Torx set either Hex Key set or with a ratchet set. T35 to fix the soft top brackets to the roll cage, T40 to remove the hard top and T50 to remove the doors.

from what ive read on another form, if you plan on doing any off roading (and you should its a Jeep after all) double check your window sticker / build sheet / and physically check you have all the skid plates you should have. see this post on missing skid plates
