2013 JKU
Automatic Re geared to 4.10 Truetracs added front and back Mainly country driving Averaging 12L/100kms running ethanol free gasoline. (Last tank was 11.7) I've currently got the stock wheels and tires back on. I noticed tire size/weight affected my mileage far more than the gear ratio did. |

What I pay at the pumps seams to be around the same range. BTW: I learned to forget the heavy foot when getting up to speed. Also use the cruise control. And by highway I mean paved country back roads with little traffic and only a few stop signs. Aprox. 50 km's each way to work & back per day. On the 400 series hwy's or QEW speeds would be much faster & mileage much lower. |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
I actually saw pretty bad milage when I first got my truck, but once I hit 16,000kms it actually got alot better. Used to get around 13L/100km 90% highway at first.
I do short 10km commutes now all city driving. 11.5L/100km 100% city 3.73 gears, stock 255/75R17 wheels I notice huge leaps in the usage upto around 12 if I shift higher then 2000rpm, I've yet to do extensive testing on the highway. But from of the short 60 - 100km runs I've done I have hit around 10.8L/100km. I think also a major factor, 2 doors will use less fuel then 4 doors. |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
mine is the 2015 wrangler sport 343 km sort of new ...milleage shows 11.0 to 10.8
on the dash |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
As my mileage has gone up my fuel consumption has got a little better.
For my runs from Seaforth to Stratford I'm averaging 10 L/100 Km or slightly better. |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Wow... you guys are driving a Prius compared to mine.
2012, 4.10s auto 2dr. Original rims with 315/70/17 MTs. It's a way of life. Some people buy a Jeep to look or feel cool. We just USE and ABUSE! MPG factor is NOT a factor.
Enjoy. Don't forget to WAVE. |

Enjoy. Don't forget to WAVE. You seem to be missing the idea being "the way of life", get with the times. |

Except that it is, because if your getting better fuel mileage you can go further between fill ups. You can save money at the pump to buy upgrades, you generally feel better about reducing your carbon footprint so that when you go out into the woods or drive on a nice trail, everything around you remains green and not dead.

Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
:confused:Im getting 13-13.5 L/100 km.but sometimes the guage will skyrocket to156 L and slowly work its way back down to normal. Its happened on and off a few times over the summer. Its a pain to take it in because it doesnt do it all the time, has any body else experience this?
|
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Probably happened after you filled up, reset the gauge, then sat in the lineup at Tim Hortons. The computer calculates how far you've just driven and how much fuel you've used...even if it's just sitting there idling.

I've experienced the same type of readings after a similar situation as described by zrs. In my case, I had fueled up and got back onto the highway and quickly hit construction which caused some stop and go traffic for about 5 kilometers. The computer identified very high readings, but then dropped back down, similar to what you observed. Keep an eye on it though. |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Thanks guys.I gotta pay more attention to the circumstances around when it occurs. I don't want to take it in for nothing. I already had it in for a improperly sealed windshield and also when the computer was throwing a code-oil pressure sensor running hot( warranty work)

I always recommend keeping a log of different issues over the course of period. Sometimes you can find the common denominator and determine what is happening. |
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Good advice Wes. I was doing just that on my old TJ . And again on the JK. But senility has set in i guess and i don't know where I put my log book:retard:

Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Well it happened again today afterwork. I started up my baby and left without sitting idling. The km/l jumped up to around 165. I drove along a side street for about 10 min before jumping on to the highway. It took just under 30 min before it came back down to normal (about 13L\100 km ) My gas gauge read 1/2 full. Any input is appreciated.:confused::confused::frown:

Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Don't reset the meter, ever. Initially after the reset, it will be way off until you get some k's on it. The more km's since the reset, the closer it will be to your actual average.
|
Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
Actually zrs, i didn't reset the guage, I just kept driving and the L/km started decreasing on their own till eventually settling in at 13L/100km.after a half hour. I'm going to have to take her in when I find the time while shes still under warranty. If I reset, I guess my average fuel consumption would be comparable to modern airbus.

Re: What mileage are you getting in your JK?
There's an analogy! Lol. I'm thinking there must be an issue then. Are you noticing any other issues, ie shift points off? You have to look at the operations through a scan tool, to make sure the computer is receiving correct data from the various sensors related to that circuit. Pretty tough to diagnose without seeing that...time for a trip to the shop. (Hanger)
