Washing Underhood

So I went mudding for the first time over the weekend. GREAT TIMES. Took me a while to clean the jeep off but was well worth it. However...Decided to fill up the wiper fluid cannister and when I looked under the hood it was a very muddy mess.

I'm hesitant about going to wand wash. Anything I should be aware of or to avoid washing? My last vehicle I always avoided the alternator.

Same practice with the jeep ???

since nearly every electrical connection under the hood is sealed from the factory, you can usually go to town... unless you added custom wiring and such to the system... just avoid the fuse/relay box from being drowned in water... if you have an exposed K&N you'll want to cover it up or probably clean it by itself...

the way i usually tackle mine is with a regular graden hose and sprayer, usually the pressure is adequate... using the pressure washer is a bit overkill IMO looking to do more harm than good (and spraying the dirt everywhere!)

start at the hood, and work your way down...

I usually have my air compressor handy to blow away any water thats pooling... around electrical connectors and stuff...

Gunk is great stuff for getting off the dirt and grim if its oil coated lol

You need to clean off the alternator. If it gets clogged with mud it will overheat and self destruct.

I've been pressure washing mine for 2 years now, no issue.
