transmission fluid check
I have a 2007 jku manual how do i check/change my transmission fluid. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

I have a 2011 JK and I expect they are the same. I changed my tranny fluid to Amsoil SYN when I first got the Jeep.
You can check the level by the filler set screw on the side [passenger side] of the tranny. Filled it should be level with the bottom of the threads and just start to drip out the filler hole. Check your book for capacities when you refill to be sure it takes enough. The engineers in their all knowing but whacked out wisdom put a cross rail right in front of the drain hole. So, you need a special short tool with a metric allen wrench on it as the cross rail is right there. I fabbed one with a short metric bolt that the head fit into the recess of the drain plug and I welded a nut on the other end for my wrench. Then stand clear as the fluid splashesout onto the cross rail and ------s pretty fast. I used a large oil drain tub and got most of it. Then I also fabbed a tool for the filler hole plug with another bolt as it is also an odd size metric allen set screw. Once you have the tools, its not that bad. |
