Tire stress (picking out new ones)
 

My 08 JKU, auto, 3:73's will need new tires in a bit...I've been doing lots of homework on the topic.

Most of the time I'm a DD highway 120Km per day round trip.

I do want to loose the 18" Sahara wheels.

I do like the Mickey T MTZ, and ATZ.

I'm leaning towards the MTZ's, but ATZ as a close second, both in a 33 X 12.5 17.

Also wheels will be 17x9 with a 4.75" back space.

Does anyone here have any run time on a set up like this? Any comments on tread wear, MPG.

They are wider then stock, and I'm really wondering if this will cause me problems sooner on ball joints, wheel bearings ect...due to the wider stance, or is the increase not that big a deal?

Not that big of a deal.. I have 126klm on 35's and still have all stock frontend components (other then the lift of course).

Summer - 14-16L/100 km
Winter - 15-17L/100 km

AND i know the dealer inflated the tires to the max as I can feel all the bumps so that means my fuel useage will go up when I deflate them to the prop PSI. Keep in mind, wider tires are great in the winter (when it snows), but city driving can be scary because of the slush and flooding with the wider tires.

Thanks for the reply...WOW nice looking Jeep family, and pictures are awsome!!

The shot of all three is great, and your son's Jeep is what I'm heading towards, I'm can't make up my mind on tires + TF level kit now, or just run the stock suspension for now....hmm.

With your son's Jeep, did you see any big difference in loss of power on the highway? Not sure if he's got the auto, and what gearing. I'm auto with 3:73's, and I expect to loose a little bit of RPMs...just wonder what my daily commute to work will feel like in Toronto Traffic, 120KM round trip. Will the auto (42RLE) hunt for the right gear even more, or maybe need to lock out the O/D some times.

My son's Jeep has an auto with 4.10 gears. He does just fine with the 33s and OD on.
