The new engine does sound interesting. I had no real timeline in mind so i may wait for the 2012's. More hp's and better mileage sounds too good to be true. I think the sahara unlimited will likely be the way i go. I like to get to some hard to reach fishing holes that take you down some old forgotten logging roads but that typically would not require crawling. I will have to pick up the JP magazine.
Is the Lok track available as an option on all models? Thanks! P.S. The Rubi comes stock with True Lock, 'selectable locking diffs' no other option...its the ultimate diff front and rear. |

Axle Lock (TRU-LOK) only seems to be available on the Rubicon. I found that in the 2011 User Guide.
I think the Rubicon is the only Jeep that has the Sway Bar Disconnect as an option, I haven't heard of a Sport or Sahara having it but I could be wrong. |

Yes, the Rubi is the old Jeep to come "Stock" with Electronic Disconnects....However, many non-Rubi owners simply add manual swap bar discos....I've even heard some Rubi owners complain about the electronic discos, and they replace them for manual ones.

Do you really think the 2012 Jeep Wrangler will be ready to order come June?? That would be amazing....Am thinking on the 2011 with the good deals and all, but the new engine and more Hp is holding me back..can't wait to get into a jeep.

You were asking about the differances between atuo and manual transmissions. Most people tend to lean towards the manual transmission while off road. You are able to just crawl along as opposed to the higher RPMs needed for the torque converter to enguage in an auto transmission.

New to the site; first post.....I have also been looking at buying my first Wrangler and have taken one out a couple times. The new Pentastar engine sounds good; but I'm not convinced it is proven yet. I do like the notion of better fuel economy; but if I had my choice, I would choose reliabity first. So I have some questions. 1) Is it realistic to get 500 - 600 km to a tank of Fuel, combined highway, city with the 3.8 L engine? 2) What could I expect for KM on the highway? 2) I have been looking at a flame red Wrangler with painted hard top. I like the look of the painted roof; should I worry about it getting scratched from removal? Thanks in advance! T |

T The Pentastar is being used in many models allready, so it's not a fresh mill with no run time. I've made a personal bet with myself and said 10% increase in fuel economy in the 2012 Wrangler.....just put my flame suit on to be ready :) Many things play a factor in fuel economy: -driving habits, easy on the skinny pedel!!! 100KM/hr @ 1800 RPM is sweet spot. -gearing 3:73 vs 4:10 -tire type and size A/T vs M/T...stock 31 vs 35's -some say 6-speed is a bit better then the 4-speed auto -stock height vs lifted -weight...custom bumpers, winch, tools -some say topless inceases drag -strong head winds We have a stock 08 JKU , 3:73 gears, auto and I can do 9 L/100KM/hr on the highway with the A/C on, soft top up, 4 people and camping cargo....and keeping to 100KM/hr. In town it creaps up say 11 to 13 L/100. Wife drives the Jeep as DD so I can't coment on full tank...600Kms I don't think IMO. If you are worried about MPG then get a small car you are not 100% happy with....BUT if you want a ride you will fall in love with and have real pride of ownership...Jeep. Just make cuts in your budget to help with gas money...worth every penny. (Go on test drive and take the front two pieces of the hard top out....HOOKED!) Sweet, love the flame Red, I'm a fan of any Jeep color that helps scream look at me I'm a Jeep. IMO that is. Honestly I prefer the contrast of a black hard top, too much of one color is, well, too much for me, others like it...cool. Test drive many times ask lots of questions, then make your decision, it's like no other ride out there, there will always be a Wrangler(S) in my driveway. That being said....you'll find lots of stuff to spend that money on!! |

Putting the mpg aside, what about the hp? and the 5 speed auto engine? Wouldn't that be worth the wait? |
