Service/maintenance schedule question
Hello Everyone,
I'm just wondering how many kilometers you waited (recomend me waiting) to do the first oil change? My service manual provided by Jeep says six months/ 13,000km, but that seems like a long time for a first oil change on a new engine to me. Am I wrong? |

Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
First oil change I did was at 1000kms. Since then 5K,10K,15K,and 20K this week.
I've had the Jeep for 18 months now. I plan to have it awhile yet. Maintenance beats the hell out of repairs! |
Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
I usually do them at 5000 K or 3000 miles.

Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
I have always done them at 5k intervals... And first at 1k on new engine. My manual and the dealer says do them every 10k... I am doing 90% highway driving so I am ok with that... But on city an mixed driving 5k seems like best number to go by!

Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
I am picky and did mine at 800kms full synthetic, and do it every 2500-3000 kms. I know its overkill but do not care, its a simple stupid little oil change early in the life of the engine that will prolong it in the long run. once I hit 30,000 k then I will do my oil change intervals at 4000k

Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
I've done mine at every 5k.
However my last one the dealer told me to come back at 22,000 km, I had 12k at the time. Think I'll bring it in this week, as I'm getting close to 5k. |
Re: Service/maintenance schedule question
Effectively the manual says: 8,000 Miles (13,000 km) or 6 Months Maintenance Service Schedule - same thing for tire rotation. I do mine as well at 5k. If you're not concerned about maintenance budget, then I believe it's better to do it more often than not. Cleaner engine = better mpg = lower emissions and longer life for the engine!
