Runva Winches, any good?

Has anybody used or bought and had any trouble with the Runva winches? I'm replacing the front and rear bumpers of my 2010 2dr Sahara with a set of Rock-Slide bumpers and am looking at winches. Warn and Superwinch are good but the Spec for Runva is as good and 1/2 the price. pleas let me know thanks.

i guess it depends on how much you r going to use it, if it is just for looks and going to be use twice a year than it should be all right. oh ya cant forget about wallet, i run warn on my quad but for jeep think of getting knock off not going to use often but will have it just in case :) thats my two cents

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

It'll get used but not regularly, I've talked to Runva and the synthetic rope will give me about 75ft in lieu of the 85ft of cable, I think I'll bite. its works out to less than 1/2 the price and come with a life time warranty.

check out Titan winches. The owner Duncan is a huge supporter of the jeep community and hes a no BS type of guy. The winches he sells are second to none.

Looked at the Titan site but its lacking specifications on the 2 speed Sabre winch. what type do you have 88XJ?

Runva looks good to me i think i might bite as well at that price and with a lifetime warranty whats the worry?

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

TWC 12000lbs with the compressor and i switched to synthetic line. As for the specs on the sabre I know hes changed suppliers recently in an attempt to fix a small issue they had. Hes constantly tracking down weak points and making everything stronger. Although the Sabre is as reliable or more than a warn. My buddy has one and hes had it for 2-3 years now and he uses it atleast 10 times a year.

Give them a call. Runva I looked into btw and they are pretty much junk. Ask Duncan though he can explain all the differences between them.

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

Thanks I'll most likely be purchasing the 12,000 lb Sabre with synthetic line soon. Did you change the fairlead when you replaced with synthetic rope?

88XJ 10-06-2010 10:17 PM

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

I had a roller fairlead from an old bumper that I used.

Edit: Mind if I ask why you got that one instead of the TWC 12 000lbs with the built in compressor? The TW are better quality and built by Titan themselves. The Sabres are left over from when they out sourced a lot of their winch manufacturing. IF i remember correctly. Not totally sure.

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

I know this is an old thread but I have had a Runva 12k for a year now, used it alot, and its a great winch with good power...little slow, but I am very happy with it for the $300 i paid for it.

Did a lot of checking and Today I ordered a Sabre 12,000lbs two speed winch, can't wait to install it in the new bumper when it lands.

Anyone else running a Runva winch? feedback would be good........for the amount i will use it and a lifetime warranty it looks good enough for me and the right price too.

Well......that's not very promising

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

Well its fine if you dont plan on using it too much. I have a cousin who uses his winch constantly instead of just pulling someone out with a recovery strap but he uses a Titan.

Realisticly if you're using a winch 4 times plus a year you're probably doing something wrong or you're like me and constantly taking on trails with guys in varying rig sizes.

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

As i said previously I've ordered a new Titan Winch based on the reviews of this and other forums, the Sabre 12,000 lb dual speed with synthetic rope should be landing this week or early next week.
After talking to Duncan at Titan Winches all I can say is this man appears to know his stuff, the fellow at Runva was unsure on some questions, the life time warranty offered by Runva isn't going to help you get out of trouble if its broke and parts are on order. I opted for the Titan based on its speed and performance.
Hope this Thread ha helped other like myself.

Great to hear. Duncan is awesome, I've always enjoyed dealing with him. I buy all my recovery stuff from him, from shackles to tree savers.

Received the Sabre winch and its looks great. Can't wait for the bumpers to land and get things hooked up. I'm glad i went with the synthetic rope ], only regret is the RED winch hook. A can of paint will fix that.lol

Rock-Slide Engineering Ridge Series Front and Back. Hope to see them next week coming from south of the border. I hop that we can a network of suppliers with stock in the West, that would save on shipping. Good thing the dollars close to par.

A buddy of mine is running the 12000lbs Runva. He's never had any problems with it... When my SW dies, I'm gonna give the Runva a try.

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

I have a 11000 lb Runva on my JK and use it almost every other weekend it was on my previous jeep for 6 months and about a year on the JK I have the synthetic rope and love the winch its been rock steady.
I was a bit leary due to the low price but decided i would turture it and get my money out of it...i guess the thing was worth every penny and if it died tomorrow id buy another one no questions asked.

Re: Runva Winches, any good?

Not likely anyone going to reply as the post is 2 yrs old but looking at their website (RCFM) and the 2
video's on the in and out towing its rather impressive. The price I paid for my Superwinch 8500 lb 5 + yrs ago was $399. though Cdn Tire. Its done me well, cable came off, got it put back on and it came off again this time I put it on and it has stayed. Minor problem. But contact the company in Ct and their ready to help you even up here in Cda. Good service.. Runva I have never dealt with, but you seem satisfied and I do like the rope instead of steel cable which wud be my choice if I need to buy a new winch down the road. Safer is the man concern..
