On road tire pressure
 

Hello peeps! I washed my Jeep this w/e and decided to verify the tire pressure. Holy ****!!! To my surprise, the dealership inflated my 32s to 42 psi!!!! Which is way too much! For all those who just bought your Jeep, verify this tire pressure you got if don’t want to worn your tires fast. Personally I dropped to 30 psi for road driving and I know I could go even lower. Of course, off-road is another story. Good wheelin’ to every one!

When did you take it in for service? Could be because of winter tire pressure.

The old rule is as it was explained to me many moons ago by a Wiseman (no i didn't call u a wiseguy) to check the good pressure is drive though a puddle of water and when u come onto the dry road check to see what the thread pattern looks like on the imprint on the road.. to much air will show center and little to nothing side thread (not good). Also when u first mount those new tires it may be wise to have a little more air in them so as to let them seat properly. Same when offroading new tires can be air down but I wouldn't go over board wait a while let them seat.. or u may have the misfortune of popping a tire..I run 28 lbs on the road and about 15 offroading. 33x12.5r15 on steel rims..

the recommended tire pressure is on the inside of drivers door on placard. also the max pressure can be found on the sidewall of tire.on the road a higher pressure will produce better gas mileage and longer tire life with a little rougher ride,softer pressure will give you better traction, less tire life and less gas mileage.

Chalk test! It's the only way to tell if your pressure is good.

Every tire is different. Don't listen to what's written places, from experience it doesn't work.

I run my 35s at 30psi ...I know guys who run 28. My tires say 35 psi I believe

i run around 26psi on the road, anything really mucky, rocky or lots of trees im down to 16ish

35" E rated PitBulls - 26psi on road = perfectly even wear. Rotated every 5,000klm, tread depth checked at every rotation. Higher pressure may get you better gas mileage but will shorten the tread life of an M/T tire substantially.. My last set of M/Ts made 60,000klm and there was still enough tread to sell the tires.
