Reentering the Jeep world

Hello all,

It has been some time since I have been around here. Sold my last jeep (97 tj) over 4 years ago and have been wanting another jeep ever since.
I am now considering buying another one although this time I think I will buy one new.
I had a few questions. I cannot afford the rubicon and the used ones go for insane amounts, besides I would rather a new one this time around so at least I know how much I abused it and not some previous owner.

I have to visit a dealer, but first I though I would ask you guys some questions since you probably know more than most salespeople out there.

1. if I was to go the base route and get the sport, will any dealerships give you the option of the limited slip rear or do you need to buy the sport s to get this option?

2. what size tires can you fit stock, how much with fender flares? I was thinking of going this route before putting a lift on the jeep. Who makes the most popular fender flares?

3. Is the dana 30 strong enough for say 33's-35's? I assume the 44 is more than enough in the rear.

4. does the jeep come with a hitch, is the tow package a must have if your towing (can you run the wires yourself easily?)

5. what is the max tire size you can fit on the spare, will a 35 fit?

My plan is the stock 16 inch wheels with a good set of 35s and fender flares if this will work. Figure it will give me a good base for doing some weekend wheeling but it will also have to be my daily commuter. What do you all think?

Re: Reentering the Jeep world

So i have been able to pull up some answers.

2. Looks like I will be able to fit 35s with a new set of steelies with 4.25 backspacing and a set of tube fenders (have been considering metalcloack).

3. I see that the dana 30 is a heated discussion so we will leave it at that.

Still looking for answers to 1,4 and 5.

My plan stays the same exept I will buy a pair of steel wheels with a proper backspacing.

Re: Reentering the Jeep world

Best deal on the market right now is the Willys edition. It has the limited slip diff, but also more importantly a 3.73 rear axle ratio. That is a must have if you're putting on larger tires. 33s will fit fine with no lift, but 35s will require some mods. For any tire size larger than stock, put a teraflex hinge kit on the back of your jeep, or you risk popping the spot welds on your tailgate. The tow package is very simple to install yourself, and much cheaper too.

My answer based on the 2014. Haven't seen the 2015 prices/specs yet.
1. LSD not available on the base model.
4. No it's a $475 option.(can be done cheaper after market)
