To re-gear or not to re-gear 2013 JK Sahara
I have 2013 2 door Wrangler with factory gears, I'm told by the dealer they 311s and I'm installing a 2.5 AEV lift and bought 33" shoes for it, wanted 35"s but was told I would have to change the gears. My question is what gears should I go to and how much should I pay? Where should I have it done?

Before you do anything, check for a tag on the diff cover, it will tell you what the gear ratio is. The dealer is not always right. 3:73 or 4:10 is usually considered about right for 33" tyres. If you do decide to re-gear, check around a few different places as prices vary considerably. A place that specialises in drivetrains will probably be your best bet.

Most likely the standard 3.21 gears. If a dealer said 311's Id think twice on following any advice from them. oldfarts advice is good. |

Another way to find your gear ratio in your jeep is to look up your original window sticker at this site.
Use your VIN number to get Jeep Window Sticker If "standard equipment" lists 3.21 axle ratio check the "optional equipment" to see if they have been replaced by other gears. If not in the "optional equipment" you have the standard gears. (Put cursor on second line to bring up link) |

To get your build sheet try this site.
Jeep - Contact Us Under Your Vehicle click on "equipment listing". Enter vin# and than click to search. |

I regeared my 2013, and added trutracs front and back at the same time. I went with 4.10s, and with the 34x10.5R17 BFG KO2s, it's about perfect IMHO.
