New Jeep Wrangler Owner

After a dozen or more years of traditional Cherokee ownership, the most recent being a 1999, my new 2016 Wrangler Sport Unlimited arrived yesterday  ...

This is my first off-road adventure and pic with my new Jeep

I joined the local Jeep club, drove directly from the dealer to my first meeting, looking forward to the "Responsible 4WD & Jeep 101" in April.

I want to install some off-road hardware like a brush guard, tail light guards, whatever - partly for looks  but also to prepare for the course and for going down farmers back lanes to the hiking trail to do maintenance. Some of those are quite rugged. The Cherokee with a 4" lift handled them with a little paint scratching here and there - which i would like to avoid with the new one. Any suggestions are most welcome. Note limited budget :frown:

Nice - I know what the Cherokee were like (mine was an 89) dent here, scratch there w/3.5" lift, all mod's hand made. This JK I'd chk if the steering box is easy accessible to rocks (if so get a steering box cover) I c no step that's good one less thing to remove or leave on the trails, Tires 33" or 35" 's ur choice CB (always nice when offroading) 1st Aid kit - Fire extinguisher. Other mods will come do it slowly remember .Also check out the sponsors on this site mention your a member never know what deals they may have.

I spent some time with the users manual, in and around the Jeep, trying stuff. Had the stupid loud thing going a couple of times :frown: Figured out pretty well everything. Went for a longer drive on back roads.

Conclusion: I should have done this long ago. I love this thing. Gimme some snow so i can use the 4-wheel drive. Bring on spring

London - No snow you usually get hammered with all kinds of storms at least most every time I went trucking though on that suicide hwy 401 heading to the USA. I might mention you look allot like the famous singer Willie N... maybe stand there holding a guitar and you will get more comments :)

We had one light dusting of snow, it did not stay on the ground, several weeks ago. That was it until a couple of days ago - pure green Christmas. Guys out golfing, riding motorcycles, girls skipping rope, whatever. Not enough snow on the roads now to try out the 4 wheel drive, altho i did manage the 1 block up to the corner early AM the day of the snow.

Never seen it like this before.

Hope we have a good spring. Still thinking about the club's beginner off-road course. My Harley Davidson IronHead has been my main hobby for the past dozen years. I expect to be doing less riding this year and onwards - gotta get this Jeep dirty :)

A guitar and a red bandanna for the next pic :)
