my story- my purchase 2010 wrangler

I test drove a wrangler sport and it was fine ,the salesperson talked about all the options etc etc including air conditioning which at first i thought ,no i don't need that .(but maybe a good resale thing to get now for later )
I picked up the wrangler saturday during a big sales event at the dealership and they were running around like chickens ,so they never went over the vehicle etc.
So we took delivery and as i started to pull away it was quite muggy (warm to hot),and i could not find the ac switch ,sales manager said its on the dash and i said i was embarrased as i could not see it ,he then came out and said you don't have ac,the salesperson that sold this jeep apologized for the mistake.
I would not have bought the jeep if i would have know ahead of time no air and what they were asking money wise for the whole package.
i trusted the salesperson and i screwed up.
As we drove away (murphy's law) that day the temp on the 401 to toronto was 28 degrees C ,thats warm and it was very uncomfortable---so that was one day AC would have been nice.
So i have the jeep ,(2 days) 500km and very disappointed .The dealership said they will make things right ,they are getting me airconditioning at there cost and charging me that amount.
We'll see how things go in the next few days, other than that the jeep is fine

Hey , nice Jeep. Just to clear up , is the dealer going to install air on your Jeep or get you a different one?

Re: my story- my purchase 2010 wrangler

they are going to install the air at there cost ,which i will pay but its reasonable, they tried to replace the jeep but the owbership registartion would have cost them a lot .
I think this is going to be ok ,once its done

The jeep was taken to the dealership today for the AC install ,an undercoat and a paint protect(lazy man's no wax)
Its going to be interesting to see how this all pans out, money wise.
I mentioned the 2 pending recalls --brakes and hood but they said they would do nothing till chrysler notified me.
I also mentioned a few rust spots on the windsheild torque bolts but the salesperson said that was normal rust for a jeep,so i gathered from that a jeep is not treated like a chrysler car.
But i was promised a mopar socer ball.
All this work should be done by friday night.

Good luck Woodman!
Prior to signing ANYTHING I would go over your Jeep with a fine tooth comb. CHECK and verify everything, agreed, that's a big job. Let the AC run and make sure it blows cold, these SOB's goofed up, they need to make it right. I'd find out the local Chrysler "dealer rep' let them know you are not happy with the poor service of this dealer.

While you are there I'd hammer them on the rust you pointed out....come on its friggin brand new, zero tollerence this is your baby and your hard earned money. I cheked my 08, no rust in the area you noted.

All the best!

woodman, the rust on the bolts is not normal, get the dealer to fix them, it is covered under warranty, I know this because I'm the service mgr at a chrysler dealer, I just bought my first wrangler also, (sport with mud terrains), so get it fixed now, there will be less chance for the dealer to come up with excuses(i know the tricks). Good luck and have fun

Well after 6-7 days i got the jeep back from the dealership, its undercoated and a paint protection something i asked to have done (extra)
The rust behind 3 torque bolts on the windsheild support was not dealt with ,they sort of laughed it off and said all jeeps are like that.My roof was marked (showing the white fiberglass) and the salesperson said he would get me a touch paint which is ok
The AC is installed ,the dealership took it to a ac specialist shop and it was put in at dealer cost, it has a switch in the centre of the lower dash to turn it on or off ,not the same controls as a ordered one from the factory and thats ok too as it works (cold-cool-warm)
So i'm in business runs good looks good.
This jeep is my motorcycle/atv for 6 months every year and i will enjoy it
Also-- i did get the mopar socer ball!!!

the AC is good it was worth while getting it installed ,glad that is all done with .
I really like driving the jeep took it off pavement today ---roads that say not maintained in winter possible menonite wagon roads ,it was great .Had terrible urges to turn off the beaten path and cut across a field or two.
The jeep is fun to drive ,have not had the back top off yet still in the design stage to fabricate a T shaped arm to lift it off the jeep body
All you need is the jeep, gps and a county map for the larger picture and good to go

Do not let them get away without repairing the rust spots,be very emphatic!!There is no excuse for rust spots on a brand new vehicle..Jeep or not..it's just not right.Be aggressive and if nothing gets done call Chrysler Canada FROM the stealership and you'll see how fast they jump.Just arm yourself with the number for Chrysler Canada so you have it on hand when you need it.Also express your disappointment with the poor service you received, meaning not original A/C.
I also work in service and I am appalled at how they brushed you off and treated you poorly.

Good to hear you have it the way you wanted it.. and now your a jeeper with a ball good for you. I have no idea what your talking about (mopar socer ball) :)

Re: my story- my purchase 2010 wrangler

I was all set to say a lot of things about how this deal went down ,the rust spots (typical for a jeep) the top marked up (sending a paint touch up) (etc)....but then i read a thread from a fellow jeeper about saying things on a dealership and to get back at the person they blackballed him via chrylsler over warranty issues so he's saying not to mouth off ,let things go as its yourself you're going to hurt.
I feel he's got a point ,i would rather a warranty for 3 yrs take the jeep as is and leaves things lie.
Its not like me but but i am bitting my tongue

It's all in the delivery, calm and cool, and let the 'facts' lead disscussion. I hear ya I too would want to rip into them at the slightest resistance....however, bit your lip as you say.
I find being calm with the right amount of sarcasem (SP?) and relentless will take you further in these types of situations.

Never heard of black ball, they sold you a product, some of your $$ is to cover the waranty, use it that's what its there for, I would escilate until you are happy, don't let them trick you nor let them off easy.

Good luck in your delivery!

I agree.you don't have to yell and carry on but at the same time don't let them push you around, after all you are the customer.
