Mirror re-locate
Greetings,
Thinking of getting a mirror re-locate kit to stay legal with the doors off. Anyone had any experience with these kits? Is there one better then the other? Thanks |
Re: Mirror re-locate
My interpretation of the Ontario Highway traffic act says that as long as your windshield mirror affords you a clear view to the back your fine.
Section 66 (1) (b)Every motor vehicle other than a motorcycle shall be equipped with,(b) a mirror or mirrors securely attached to the vehicle and placed in such a position as to afford the driver a clearly reflected view of the roadway in the rear, or of any vehicle approaching from the rear. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 66 (1). Traffic act is from E-laws. I have been driving my TJ for many summers without side mirrors in ontario. Ok so far. (knock on wood) |
Re: Mirror re-locate
Yes a installed a kit I ordered from Morris jeep.com in florida for $99.00 us. The chrome one. It works great, but the view from the right side mirror is restricted to 40%, the door blocks the view, no problem with the door removed. I put one of those "stick on" fish eye mirror from Can Tire , it gives you a better view.

Re: Mirror re-locate
There is a kit at 4WD Hardware that uses the stock mirror and keeps it at the same height as factory. Mounts to the factory windshield hinge cover bolts. Looks like it works well with doors on or off..
