Did my first performance modification last week, off course I'd pick the hottest freakin' day of the year to attempt it so I can truely say I've got some (serious) "sweat equity" into this mod.
Put on Magnaflow's Performance Exhaust System #15160 (name's a bit misleading, it's really only a muffler). Install is really idiot proof - the fact I did it proves it.
The muffler comes in a huge box that turns out to have enough form fitting foam to let the muffler survive an elephant stampede untouched! There are three parts, the muffler, a clamp and the instructions. The instruction were immediately discarded as "real men don't need no stinkin' instructions" Both tail pipes are weld right to the muffler.
Two vital items to bring to the dismantle - WD 40 and dishsoap.
Depending on how long your original mufflers been in place (mine since Dec 2010) spray WD40 on the clamp bolt. It's an unusual type with a curved head bolt which fits into guide you can't get a wrench on. The single nut on the bottem presses in a similar "washer head" in the bottem of the guide. Don't waste your time working the nut all the way off to remove or slide the clamp out of the way - YOU CAN'T! The clamp is spot welded to the muffler pipe.
Once you got the clamp loosened, move to the rubber hangers. Both your old muffler and the new Magnaflow use rods welded to them which press through the hanger rubbers with a big head on the end to prevent them from pulling back out. You've got some play to slide the rubber hanger back a bit. Do it and put the dishsoap on the head and as much of the rod as you can. With a pair of channel-locks, one jaw on the head and the other on the back of the rubber, press it out. Once you've got both hangers out, you can now twist the whole muffler on the pipe. Give the muffler a couple of twists to break it loose froom the pipe, then grab the WD 40 and spray it down inside the flange and bingo off it comes. (Well yours will, me I twisted and hammered and wiggled for 20 minutes til I thought of the WD 40, then it fell off on top of me!)
You can have the Magnaflow muffler installed in less than five minutes, (if you don't stop to wipe the sweat outta your eyes and "beer break"). Hit the rod ends with a little dish soap and they go right through the rubbers and the clamp the company provides is identical to the factory one so you don't even have to go after different sockets. There's no adjustments involve as the pipe is fixed and the rubbers stayed in the factor positions.
Then it's ignition time! Gave my jeep a real nice rumble a idle and a throaty bark under acceleration. That "bark" has costly me likely 2 or 3 kms of gas milage "cuss I just gotta hear it!"

Purchased it from 4Wheel Drive Hardware (Ohio USA) for $538.99 (US$, so final price is dependant on your credit card's exchange rate, which in my case worked out to $564.55). They offer free shipping over $99 so I had it sent to my buddy's cross the border, and brought it back to Canada myself. UPS will rape you big time if you use them to "broker" your stuff. 4WD's sales rep, I talked to on the phone said it would be 2-3 weeks delivery, as his weekly shipment from Magnaflow was sold out for that week (called on a Monday) so I would get mine form the following week's stock plus a week to ship. Buddy called that Friday and said I had a package at his place, apparently I got bump forward!

Thats pretty cool, I really would like to get one put on also but the GF won't let me until I crush the one I got. So I gotta go offroading!

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw the "after" picture. I would thing that they could easily get crushed as they hang below the bumper.

 

Price wise I wud say that's about a norm as the muffler for my Sunfire GM wanted $400. stainless steel won't rust..yea that's why I was looking for a new one..it is rusted to H.... Ended buying a CTC for $50 installed. I agree with above that's allot of money to have something that's hanging looking for a rock or branch to rip off. How about a CTC Cherry Bomb tucked up underneath neatly , not yelling here I am come and hit me.. and if it does then yu haven't lost much. My opinion of experience.. lol
