I am looking to upgrade my Jeep JK 09 exhaust

I need some HELP.
I want to change my 09 Jeep JK wrangler 2 Door Exhaust.
I am leaning towards a dual exhaust.
I just want to change muffler.
I want to find which is the best sounding muffler (Deep sound) as what you can get out of a V6 that is possible.
Stainless preffered.
I know alot of you have done your exhausts and need your input.
Thanks:

Re: I am looking to upgrade my Jeep JK 09 exhaust

It is not changed on my Jeep yet cause it's a 2012 and I am not in need of. There is a lot of choices out there from 400$ to 800$ single or dual tip muffler (which there is not much difference in price by the way - about 30-50$), stainless, aluminized, ceramic... The only one that I heard from other Jeeps I am offroading with from time to time is Gibson. I like the sound, deep enough but not too loud, and the price is reasonable for stainless steel cat back exhaust system. I've seen it on Grand Cherokee as on Wrangler and both sounded nice to me. Probably the one that I will choose when time will come.

I have a 2011 2 dr Sport with the Gibson dual exhaust muffler. It was originally my sons on his 2011 but he did not like the steady drone and it was a bit loud.
When I installed it I fabbed [2] baffles to tone it down a bit.
It now sounds great.
Has a little roar at a light if I hit it but with a nice low growl in the low end and not heavy on the highway just a nice mellow sound.
He wants it back! lol!

Airdale,
Did you have any issues with the computer putting a less restrictive muffler?
Which Gibson did you put on, (web address on Gibson's site or part # would be great help)?

Peter,

Definitely let us know!
Pics too just to see the set up.
Out of curiosity, did you check with your local Jeep dealer to see if they could get a Mopar kit?

Re: I am looking to upgrade my Jeep JK 09 exhaust

Looking on the Quadratech web site I believe it is the [ Gibson - Manufacturer Part No: 17303] aluminized exhaust [not SS) .I also have an aliminum Cold air intake with reusable round tapered air filter.
It only took about 50 kms for the computer to reset itself.
Runs good and sounds great.

Hello
I have installed the MSRP off-road cat back exhaust on my 08JKU
It was easy to install and sounds great, well I like it my wife on the other hand is not crazy about it:biggrin:
plus it freed up the space where the muffler was so installed an air tank to air up after wheeling:smile:

I threw on my 2010 JK a Dynomax muffler with a single tip and it sounded awesome, the muffler was about 300 bucks but it sounded reaally good and it definetly gave me more clearance in the back !

Airdale, check your private messages and get back to me about checking out your exhaust.
Where did you purchase this system?

Re: I am looking to upgrade my Jeep JK 09 exhaust

The Gibson I have was purchased from an online store by my son. He can't remember which one and he paid about $380.00 CDN for it. He used it about 3 months and I bought it from him.
Down in the East of Windsor area and I don't do much offroad but do pull a bass boat and like the top down. So, the Gibson doesn't affect me for ground clearance as I have read some guys don't like it for that reason.
Haven't seen many JK's with non stock or aftermarket exhaust around here but I do like the look and sound of mine!

Re: I am looking to upgrade my Jeep JK 09 exhaust

Well i finally installed my Gibson dual exhaust.
It took me about 20 minutes to install. It looks and sounds awsome.
I have put roughly 400km on it and it seems like its getting a little louder, which i love.
I also installed a Volant cold air intake, it took about 10 minutes to install.
I actually feel a difference in power and combined it sounds awsome.
Glad i did both with no issues with computer or anything.

I have pretty well the exact setup and I too have noticed a little more zip and a nice rumble when I drive.

I have the offroad mbrp exhaust.

- deep sound
- easy install
- stainless
- cheap and straight from Canada!
- the best design I could find. Perfect for offroad use as it just tucks up nicely and out of harms way!

I would recommend it to anyone
