Hitch

Hello,

I was hoping to get some guidlines on what I need to buy in order for my jeep tow. I know it's rated for 3500lbs (I have the 4 door). I didnt buy it with the tow package though. I am getting a boat soon, it's in the area of 2200lbs.

Is it as simple as just buying something like Quadratec Premium 2" Receiver Hitch with Wiring Kit & Jeep® Logo Plug for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec ? Is there more I need to be considering?

Thanks

Chris

Chris,

If you would like, send me your VIN via PM and I can get a list of what you need to tow your boat based on how your JK is equipped.

I don't have it on me at the moment, but it's a 2011 JKU Sport S, no other options.

Hope you have the 6 speed manual, because without the 3.73 gears the come as part of the tow package (and the extra weight of the 4dr), your gonna have e-bikes passing you going uphill.
I added a hitch to my 2011 2dr Sahara (ordered without the tow package) and towed my Harley (800lbs) on an open aluminum trailer to the east coast and anything bigger than anthill had me "rowin" through the gears to maintain any kind of forward momentum. In southwestern Ontario where JeepCACares and myself live, and where anthills are the highest thing we go up, it's a viable option, the the Ottawa area is gonna be bitchin' prospect.
