friendly hello to everyone

Hello and nice to be apart of the jeep world. I have an unlimited Rubicon and now wish after feeling it out to possibly upgrade and make better? After purchasing a fantastic tire (BF Goodrich - Mud Terrain T/A LT255/75 R17) but now after approx. 65.000Km i'm in need for new. I wish to now go to a steel wheel and go for more height.......trying to decide and learn if a 35 in(12" width) tire might hinder my 3.8L.At the same time i have a caliper/rotor that is going and needs to be replaced. At this stage i wish to do a full reconfig and seem to be lost for ideas and proper capability? My goal is to get some lift and start to beef up my look starting there.
Sooooooo lost for truth and conclusion!

nice....285! is that a 35 diameter tire and do you know the width? What size spacer did you have to put on?
Did you lift the jeep at all?

they are 33s and the dealer put on the spacers 1.5 inch you can check out the tires on canadian tires web site see the treads up close and all the specks

From everything I have read, if you go with a 33" tire you should be fine with your gearing (since you have a rubicon) but you might find it a little sluggish on the road. If you go with 35" tires get ready to spend more on new gears as you will most likely find you have lost a lot of power as it tries to turn those suckers.

Thanks for the info regarding the size of tires i'm thinking of...........concluded that 33's will be my choice and will work with that!

I just put 305/65R18's on my 2012 JKU Sahara. I was going to go with 35's but didn't want to spend money on gears, gussets, driveshafts, bigger lift, etc etc etc.

I am not a person for spacers, so since your going to buy new steel rims why not go for the offset rims and then you won't need the spacers and you won't be hit anywhere when you turn, you can also adjust the bump stops or when you do the lift sometimes they give you new ones. Gears I thot with a ruby you had 4.11 so whats wrong with that..and to change to 4.56 from 4.11 isn't worth the cost. With a 4" suspension lift you'll clean with 35"

I agree with Mr White , forget the spacers and get the correct rims for the 35's you want. I am running 35's on my 08 rubi u as well . I put a super chips in to help with the bigger tires . I am going to go to 37's and change my gears to 5.13's. i also have a 6 inch lift . It all works ok for what I am doing .
