Doors off mirror solutions ??
I know for a fact that it is legal (in Ontario at least!) to drive with just the rearview mirror as long as your view of the roadway behind you is in obstructed... But I tried it and I must have looked at the non existent side mirrors 20 times in a 5 minute drive!
I'd like to hear (and see pictures!!) of what people have done for mirrors with the doors off. Any takers? I bet there are a lot of creative solutions out there! |
Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??

I just ran highway 11 up north of North Bay... Two OPP officers cruised by and nodded... Probably Jeepers themselves... No mirrors... Very different... I have heard that relocation brackets work great... But when doors are on the passenger mirror is useless.

I do like my relocation brackets. But I did have to spend a bit of time adjusting my passenger side to work with the doors on. That's not a problem anymore since I had to have the passenger side bracket modified to work with my snorkel.
Here is a pic of the bracket I have for the driver side Attachment 1987 And the passenger side Attachment 1988 |
Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
I just use the rearview mirror when doorless but there are also mirrors avail that use the door hinges for mounting into. Have also seen people use bicycle mirrors in the hinges. :D

In fact I don't see much in the passenger side mirror with relocation brackets. I kept the original brackets that I will put back on during the winter. Here is some pics..

Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
People are using Harley-Davidson motorcycle mirrors as well. The stem fits into the top hinge without any modification required. I would think this too small of a mirror but i guess it is one solution.

The Harley mirrors I had hanging around the garage worked great.
I think they were off my old springer softail. |
Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
have done both mirror relocation and the harley d mirrors.. prefer the harley mirrors. on/off in less than 3 minutes and give you enough of a view to safely change lanes without running over a prius

Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
used the $5 dollar bike mirror from canadian tire and I use the convex 2" mirrors on my HVAC vents. works perfectly and no blind spots. and if u dont wanna look at the mirrors anymore, just flip em around. cost total- under 10 bucks for everything.

Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
We put a convex mirror on the passenger side one to help with blind spot.

I don't have pics of my setup, but I bought these Universal Custom Motorcycle Mirrors - Free Adapters motorcycle mirrors for $12 and with a nut as a spacer, I removed the bolt on the A pillar near the visor on each side and screwed them right into that. Perfect bend on the mirrors arm! They fold right up against the pillar when the doors are on so no need to remove them. (The only caveat, is that I had to buy an extra universal hardware kit because the bolts that are the correct size for our jeep is a Yamaha thread, which for some reason is reverse thread on one. Meaning when I went to screw these in, one side wouldn't thread into the jeep)
It's a pretty awesome setup though. I'll take a pic and post. |
Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
Definitely gotta give us some pics. Myself I'd likely not buy a 2nd kit for passenger side as all I need
is a mirror on myside, but hey I'm way out in the boondocks where the roads are only one horse wide anyway. You big city boys can get run down from every direction! So far the Harley mirror in the door hinge has done the trick. |
Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
I've seen where using the hinge with a CTC bicycle mirror costs under $5. works very well.

Re: Doors off mirror solutions ??
There are a few ways to get around the problem of not being able to see your reflection in a door with UTV Mirrors. One solution is to purchase a doorless mirror with a reflective surface on one side. These mirrors are available at most home improvement stores. Another solution is to place a small regular mirror on the doorless mirror. This will give you a reflection, but it will be a bit distorted. Finally, you can hang a doorless mirror on the wall and use another mirror to see your reflection. This is the best solution if you have the space. Whichever solution you choose, make sure that the doorless mirror is securely attached to the wall so that it doesn't fall and break
