My question is how many people have had there d44 axle tube bend twist or brake. from what I've been reading on the net it seems to be a common problem and the fact that everyone and there dogs are selling build up kits for them is telling me that there might be a problem here.

The reason I ask is because i have a 2010 jk rubicon and I think I might be a victim of a twisted front axle tube. It's not confirmed as of now, (waiting for a call from the dealer)

 

Its only an issue if you wheel real hard in the rocks Or do jumps with big tires like 37-40" . Thats what the gusset and tube kits are for. Hard Core wheelers. Average guy won't twist up a Dana 30 let alone a 44.

 

Hey just looking into this forum and , guess what ????
Ya my trip to the big rocks this summer bent up my front axle housing on my 08 Rubi U .
I had a shake in the front end took it into get checked out . And ya it's FD up .
So I have ordered a PR44 , and now going to change the axles and gears and ball joints .
And if anyone is reading this , get the housing stiffener kit .....just do it . Before this happens to you.

theres people out there bending there tubes on stock tires so it really depends on how u wheel. i run 37s on factory d44 with evo sleeves and gussets for 2years with no problems. i have had the front end several feet off the ground and slam down with no issues yet. now that i have. 6.4 hemi in it that may change things

 

Ya if I had some sleeves and gussets I likely would not have had this problem . But that's how we figure these things out . and with other peoples mistakes .
