we were scheduled for our 1st oil change at 3500 miles, so we took it to the dealer where we purchased it. Upon returning to the dealership, we were told that there was nothing that they could do for us and it would cost us for a replacement windshield.
I am very disappointed and wish to pursue this matter as a warranty or faulty part issue

Yes, this is actually something that can happen. What you experienced sounds like a stress crack, which can occur due to a manufacturing defect, installation issues, or sudden temperature changes even without a stone hitting the glass. It is not extremely common, but it is not unheard of either. Many people have had similar sudden cracks, especially near the edges or around wiper areas. It sounds like you handled it perfectly, documenting the crack, providing photos, and working with the dealership. Getting it approved for a warranty replacement so quickly is a good sign that Jeep recognized it as a defect. Once replaced, it should be fine, especially if it is OEM glass.
