Default check engine light

I remote started my 2013 jeep yesterday and after a minute or two it shut down. I started it up with the key and on came the check engine light. I'm bringing it in today but I thought I'd ask if anyone else had this happen?

want2buy,

Hard to say what happened here, sounds like it shut itself down to protect the engine. Do you know what codes were set?
Re-post if you can with the updates.

want2buy,

Perfect thanks, by the way, are you running a Wrangler or GC ?
I wanted to see what I could find on my end once I had more info.
Cheers!

Got back from the dealer and it is a sensor in the gas tank. It's under warranty and the part will be in tomorrow.

want2buy,

Yep, that would do it.
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear you'll be hitting the road again soon.
Do you remember the days when there weren't a whack load of sensors for everything system?

If you get the engine light... you can usually get code from turning key to on position 3 times without starting and codes will display on dash... I have a check engine light that pops on from time to time... for the EGR valve over voltage... but usually goes out on it's own... kinda wierd...

I'm curious what code would have come up for the gas tank sensor.

It's kinda nice that our vehicles can self diagnose now a days, I mean I had low tire pressure lights not that long ago. Only way to reset the light is to over pressurize the tires a by about a 1lb or 2 then they finally reset. I know if I switch rims and go with no sensors they would go crazy too, no way to turn it off. Same with the ESC, can't really turn it off unless your in 4WD (go into 4H hold the "traction control" button for 7 second it'll BING ESC turned off) I guess it's to stop people from doing doughnuts in 2WD.. not that.. I wanted to.. :)
