Change Oil Warning

2011 Wrangler Sport

I keep getting the 'Oil Change' warning message. I have done the key on, step on the gas pedal 3 times, key off and still get the message when I start the Jeep!

What's the trick?

Did you change the oil?

You get the message whether you change the oil or not!
I did change the oil but that doesn't remove the message.

Dude,
I think you are doing it wrong,
did you get the chimes?

here is a youtube video,
Resetting oil change light/message 2008-2012 Jeep Wrangler - YouTube

if all else fails, take it back to your dealer, i'm assuming its still under waranty...

Airdale,

The following information is found on page 289 of the owner's manual for your MY Wrangler.
I have also included the procedure simply as a reference.

"Oil Change Required
Your vehicle is equipped with an engine oil change indicator system.
The “Oil Change Required” message will flash in the EVIC display for approximately 10 seconds after a single chime has sounded to indicate the next scheduled oil change interval.
The engine oil change indicator system is duty cycle based, which means the
engine oil change interval may fluctuate dependent upon your personal driving style.
Unless reset, this message will continue to display each time you turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
To turn off the message temporarily, press and release the MENU button.

To reset the oil change indicator system (after performing the scheduled maintenance) perform the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Do not
start the engine.
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal slowly three times
within 10 seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

NOTE: If the indicator message illuminates when you
start the vehicle, the oil change indicator system did not
reset. If necessary, repeat this procedure."

Since you say that you have already done this with no success, my only recommendation is to get your JK in to your dealer to make sure there are no underlying issues.
