Canada the automatic '3-flash' turn indicator...??

OK...don't know if many of us even KNOW this about the 2012's...(2011s?)...but the turn signal has an 'automatic 3 flash' function...

When you move the turn signal lever and release it... (but not far enought to CLICK into the constant flashing mode)...you are supposed to get an 'automatic 3 flashes' on the turn signals...

I thought that mine was sporadically working, sometimes ok, sometimes it wouldn't work

But, I think I figured out that it ONLY works if the vehicle is traveling in a straight line at the time you push the indicator stalk..

If you are already into a turn, it doesn't seem to work...

Anybody know what's going on?

(should I just read the manual?)

It's the "lane change" signal.

It's a convenience feature, found on bmw's as well. My 09 Challenger RT has the same thing. Freaked me out at first, but then kind of liked not having to click off the signal after a lane change.

yeah, ok...the 'LANE CHANGE SIGNAL'...

But, my question is this: Yes, I know that it's supposed to flash 3 times (Bimmer-style) for lane-changing...but, it doesn't seem to always work...I noted that it SEEMS to always work, however, WHEN the Jeep is going in a straight line...(that is before starting a turn or lane change)...but it does NOT work when the wheels are already pointed into a turn.

I suppose one is SUPPOSED to signal before turning the wheel, though...so that would make sense...

Also, making an actual turn (not a lane change) makes it necessary to 'click' the stalk all the way down to constant flashing mode...

Am I right about this?
