2dr VS 4dr
I am looking into buying a new Rubicon, right now I am wheeling with a 94 xj and am enjoying it. I am going to buy a new vehicle which will be my daily drive for 2 or 3 years after that I plan on putting the XJ out to pasture and will use the rubicon for my wheeling. i am trying to get as much feedback as possible from as many sources as possible to the pro's and cons of both the 2 dr and the 4 dr, I have 3 kids under 6 right now and will eventually want to take them with me in the trails so a 4dr makes sense, but with the extra weight/size is that going to have an effect on its capability in the trails?

The travel aspects of the 4dr vs 2dr are unquestionable, you can hiwy travel in comfort, with room for kids/cargo/dogs/-whatever, but You'll suffer a loss of power, if you get the auto, the 6spd manual--it's OK and the Rubi will open your eyes !! I've had mine '08 JKU Rubi for 2 years and am really pleased--I've modified it http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...y/PICT0241.jpg http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...estSage011.jpg Good luck ! :3gears: JIMBO |

Re: 2dr VS 4dr
I've got a 2 door but only have 2 kids, and it's become main the main mod of transporation for my family (from getting groceries to visiting the inlaws) and it's been fine for us. If you have 3 kids and you're going to take them out with you, your only option is the 4 door (I am assuming your spouse will be coming with you and your kids will be in the back), as the back only has seat belts for 2.
Good luck. |
Re: 2dr VS 4dr
thanks for the feedback, I am going to put a little spin on this now though. My car and the wifes van are both finishing there lease at the same time so I was messing with the idea of getting her the 4 dr and the 2 dr for myself, so basically I can go either route for offroading 4dr or 2dr for myself, but if everyone out there tends to agree that the 4dr is just as good as the 2 dr in the trails then I will certainly lean towards the 4 dr.
