2dr rear space ?

Hi Guys,
Can a hockey bag fit in the trunk of a 2 door 2007 JK Wrangler ?
Considering buying a 2 door but if I can't fit my kids hockey bag in the trunk might have to reconsider !

Thx
George

If you are not hauling anyone in the back seat, just flip it up/forward, bag will fit no problem. If using back seat, it'll be a tight squeeze, but do-able.

g'luck

Learn from my mistake.....get a 4 door....especially when you have kids.

It was fine at first, but after, you'll see that you will need the space.

The JK 2 dr are just a little longer than the older TJ which does make a difference in rear space. 1 large hockey bag will fit on the rear seat or 1 bag and 1 kid..w/wifie in pass seat and you driving thats its no hitch hikers. but like jlau76 mentioned if there are more kids to come a 4 dr is more practical down the road.

I plan to remove the rear seat of my Sahara 2-door...I think it weighs around 90 lbs...Apparently, you just fold the seat forward as normal, then pull on the rod that runs between the supports...to remove the seat...I doubt if I'd be carrying more than one extra passenger...and I need the space for my musical equipment...Anybody have experience in removing the rear seat?

Yes, the rear seat is easily removable. As you said, push the rod and slide it out. I often take mine out by myself - doubt it weighs 90 pounds... Most likely less. With the seat removed, you'll gain mucho space!!!

Always run with my back seat removed, dog say's he's more comfortable without it. Removing it's not a one man job though, suckers heavy and you push DOWN on the rod to release the front hinge.

Main reason we got our jeep was for our dog. Without the back seat in it is perfect for his size. Gotta thank the dog, if not for him wouldn't own the jeep. Its so fun to ride in.

I also take the seat out for my dog... She enjoys the space, is comfortable and it's easy to clean. I have to disagree with you though regarding the seat removal 'difficulty'. I have no idea how much it actually weighs. However, I'm 5'8" and 170 lbs, of average build I believe and I do not have any difficulty in removing it by myself - although somewhat awkward. I wouldn't carry the seat for a mile, but I can easily slide it towards the gate, slip one of my arm between the folded seat and grab the other end. I then remove it fully from the back end and walk approx. 20 feet without any problems.

I wonder if the '4-door' split seat in the Unlimited would fit in the 2-door?...

When you say "split seat", do you mean the backrest is split? Or, does the backrest folds onto the seat part? I don't see the rear seat being wider than on the 2dr version as the width between the 2dr and 4dr should be the same - the wheelbase is different however.

If it's a split seat (50/50), that would be pretty neat. One would not necessarily remove the whole seat to gain more space, but could fold half of the seat for more length. That would be cool!

Actually, I think I may have made a mistake - on the 2dr, the rear seat fits between the two inside wheel well. On the 4dr, it sits ahead of the rear wheels, so I believe that the 4 dr rear seat may actually be wider!!

We were taking my lab and husky to the camp last weekend so I removed the back seat from my 2012 without any difficulty. There is lots of room without it so I don't plan to put it back.

Hey, I'm going to slightly hijack the thread, does anyone have advice on storage compartments for a 2012 2dr sport? I've hear of the "insta trunk". Are they reliable covers for the rear storage space?
