My first new from the dealer vehicle with only 17,000KM on it is going to have the transmission replaced. I was getting a weird rattle almost shudder with my manual transmission in 3rd & 4th gear around 60km/h. It could be felt in the pedal a little, but only really heard through an open window when driving near a curb. Technician says it's possibly a bad/worn/mis-assembled bearing. So a new transmission is on order.
Great experience for me! Buy used, buy new, it doesn't matter, you can't win. Other than having a warranty.

 

Hate to hear that. I have the auto tranny, has anyone had any problems with that? Had anyone had any major problems with the auto?

 

I used to drive my old friend's TJ with more than 200k km with original transmission, never had a problem, my 2012 JKU has only 1000 km and about 200 km offroad.... I keep my fingers crossed! My dealer told me never had a return for broken transmission on 2012 models. let's hope it was not a just a convincing argument....

 

hey Josuave, been riding that Jeep alot eh, I bought mine in November and have about 11,000km. Which I thought was a lot! I've got the same set-up as you the manual 2012 Sahara Unlimited.
This vehicle is the first to have a manual tranny with the Pentastar motor, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Thank goodness for the warranty, let us know when you get it back!
