I'm thinking of changing mine too, what did you do with the tip? Did you leave it the same or did you put a bigger one? What do you think of changing the position a little?

Hey I was thinking about the Magna flow as well but a fellow jeeper installed his and said that it was really loud on the highway. To loud in fact. Sure appreciate you views on this. :eyes:

Will installing a Flowmaster / Gibson exhaust system void my vehicle’s factory warranty?


There are some modifications that have the potential to void a vehicles factory warranty, but properly modifying an exhaust system after the catalytic converter is not one of them. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act was created in 1975 to protect consumers from invalid denial of warranty claims. Under the provisions of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, an automotive dealership/carmaker cannot void your warranty simply because your vehicle has been modified with aftermarket parts. They (the manufacturers) have to prove that the failure was the direct result of the installed aftermarket part. Unfortunately, too many people have gone to a dealer to have warranty service performed on their modified vehicle only to have the dealer refuse to cover the unrelated defective items. The dealer usually states, that because of the aftermarket parts installed, the warranty is void (without ever attempting to determine whether or not the aftermarket part caused the problem). If in any case, the dealer just lifted the hood, saw the modifications, and stated that the warranty was void based on what they saw (without verifying that the failure was due to the aftermarket installation), the dealer would be in violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975. The cause of the failure must be searched out and proven in order for the carmaker to void a warranty. I have an exhaust, cold air intake, and of course the lift and stuff and my warranty is still in tact.

saharaguy... Is your new exhaust same shape as the factory one or is it higher clearance? Im looking at changing out my Gibson because i have it smashed apart and its sitting crooked from use on the trails.

Too bad that MM doesn't apply to Canada since it's a US law.

Question was:
' I am looking into a Gibson Cat back Exhaust [2 tips]
I don't expect it will affect the warranty. My understanding is any change past the converter is OK.
Do you have anything you can send me to verify any that it will not affect warranty or if it does.'

Answer to question,
"Not warranty friendly but won't void Jeep warranty.
Example : A/C stops working still covered
Radio stops working still covered
Muffler over heats or rattles , not covered , it has been altered."

Just some information on my 2011 Wrangler 2 Dr.
I have the Gibson dual tip exhaust muffler. I installed it myself in about 20 minutes.
I had heard that it was noisy on the highway which they do have a constant drone at highway speeds and are loud going through the gears.
I had also heard that it was too wide open and did not create enough back pressure which hindered the motor.
With these two concerns, I fabbed baffles that sit just inside each of the tips. I drove and adjusted the baffle holes and angle attitude until I reached the [imo] best sound and performance. It took a few tries and a few kms for the computer to regulate and checking over a one month period but I have noticed increased fuel economy, acceleration and smooth running.
It now has a nice growl, no drone and a noticeable [again IMO] performance gain. I did install a CAI but have since taken it off as I noticed no difference to the stock filter. I will probably get a K&N filter eventually before replacing the stock just for economics more than performance. Although I do not think the extra air flow will hurt.

Hi there I'm a complete newbie to the jeep world. I'm in love with my diesel cummins but I always wanted a jeep. I have a 2012 wrangler unlimited sport. What do you guys recommend for air intake and exhaust? Some guys where telling me just to go with a drop in air filter (K&N) since the stock air intake is water proof or something along those lines? Performance is what I'm going for now, maybe even L/100km.
