2011 Jeep Wrangler: prevent rolling with no doors and manual transmission
With no doors on a Jeep Wrangler, are there any security features / tools / add-ons out there to prevent someone from dis-engaging the handbrake and shifting to neutral to allow the vehicle to roll?
This is especially concerning when parked on a slope with no curb to bank your wheels. |

Well.. in any Jeep Wrangler, you can easily remove the doors & roof. Automatic transmission Wranglers will lock the wheels when in "park", preventing anyone from shifting to "neutral" unless the key is inserted in the ignition.
Manual transmission Wranglers can be shifted into "neutral" and the hand-brake disengaged by anyone without a key provided they can access the inside of the vehicle. In the situation where a no-doors manual transmission Wrangler is parked on a slope, any passer-by can disengage the hand-brake and put the vehicle in "neutral" and away she goes. What security features are there to prevent this?... I am not sure. I was hoping others in this forum might have some experience with this situation. |

never thought of that, but that would be one sick bastard that would even think to do to someone and endager peoples lives. But as we know there are some stupid punks out there.

Then this is true for any opened-top convertible with manual transmission parked on the street. Same worry would be people burning holes on convertible tops with cigarettes; bird dump into the interior of the car; people throw garbage into a convertible, etc.

Up to 2010 you still have locking steering. That will help somewhat.

correct. Locking steering and properly parking your vehicle on a hill (having the tires pointed towards curb) should prevent most disasters.
