What are you looking for and how much do you want to spend? Then everyone can help with more accurate answers.

Re: wtb Lift kit

To be honest I am new to this and was really looking the easiest way to achieve what i am looking for in my Jeep. Now I am looking for like a 3" - 4" lift kit. I have been quoted for $800 so far which seems fine to me however due to economy I wanted to see if there were any used kits available that someone might have bought but change there minds about so that is my mission...

Re: wtb Lift kit

Who's offering you a lift that high for 800.00? What all is included with it?

Re: wtb Lift kit

Just watch out...not all lifts are created equally...some are much more complete then others.

If that's $800 US it's a decent price, if it's $800 CAD, then it's a smokin' deal (Assuming it's a fairly complete kit)

Re: wtb Lift kit

That's what was going through my mind with that price. What are they leaving out.
Keep forgeting that ZJ's aren't as expensive to lift as WJ's since more companies make parts for them.

Re: wtb Lift kit

The offer was for a Zone Offroad 4" lift kit. The price is around $800 plus tax. The business is located in mississauga ont. Im thinking of checking it out in the next week or two to see the kit. But I just want to make sure if i buy such a kit that i dont have to spend more to complete the kit. I want to just pay for labour at that point

Re: wtb Lift kit

Compare the parts that come in the Zone kit to what things come in the BDS kit, because I know that the BDS kit or an R.E kit. I know their kits are quite complete.

Re: wtb Lift kit

Wait...come to think of it, I think the Zone kit is a low-end BDS...at least that's what I read somewhere a while ago...

Re: wtb Lift kit

I'm pretty sure it is I remember coming across that somewhere to. I like the BDS kit for the ZJ's it's one of the more complete kits. The shocks are passable as starters. The RE kit is good to but leaves out to many of the smaller necessary parts if you want to do your lift properly.

Re: wtb Lift kit

hey I have another question. What size tire can i run with the height of 4.5"
would these work 31x11R15 on my zj?

WJCraig 04-14-2009 04:46 PM

Re: wtb Lift kit

With 4.5 inches of lift you should be fine to run up to 33's without too much trouble...Maybe a little trimming for a wide 33, but anything under should fine without any trimming...

Re: wtb Lift kit

Just make sure that your backspacing is ok to accommodate the wider tires.

Re: wtb Lift kit

Avoid rear frame mounted track bar brackets , axle mount like RE's are better , but should be welded in for extra reinforcement . I have a welded RE bracket and an adjustable JKS bar . Decreasing the angle eliminates bump steer .
I wouldn't go with Zone for 1 reason , poly bushings . The will give you one harsh ride on the frt . You need rubber there . I run super flex arms everywhere but the lwr frts . At 5" , it's not bad . I have a set of frt control arms barand new from RRO , beefy as heck but I wouldn't use them because of the bushings .
Iron Rock Offroad offers a decent starter kit for the ZJ for under $500US , I'd add a rear track bar with it and upgrade the shocks .
Rough Country has a nice looking kit with those new beefy arms , it gets good reviews , $659us I think .
Mine is a combo of OME frt springs and shocks , frt UC springs in the rear and 1 inch spacers . Re adjustable control arms , RE GenII disco's , Adcco sway bar and a KOR strg brace , it works well
