Steering noise '99 Grand cherokee
hello,
I'm the pround owner of a '99 Grand cherokee and she gets her fair share of off-road time. lately i've been noticing a "clunking" sound coming from the front chassis. it can be felt in the wheel as well. it seems to be worse (or louder) in the mornings and more noticable at slower speeds. i've been underneath to have a look and can't really tell where its coming from. anyone with any experience or knowledge?? thanks |
Re: Steering noise '99 Grand cherokee
Check your wheel bearings, get the tire up in the air and give it a pull top and bottom. Also check your springs and see if you have one that has shifted in the isolator.
Could be a U-joint starting to go, bushings in the track bar or sway bar, loose end link, ball joint loose on the drag link or tie rod bar. Check your motor mounts the rubber in them has been know to break apart after awhile... If it moves give it a pull. :) Dan |
Re: Steering noise '99 Grand cherokee
Is it lifted? My steering was contacting the front skid plate after I first lifted it...made a "Clunck/Boing" sound...a little trimming sorted it out...
