Re: Question

Well it could be a quite a few things, basically you want to check for a few things... is it consistent with RPM, the faster you go, the louder it gets, is it coming from the axle, one of the sides, or right under you from the transfercase...

do you have fulltime 4wd... could the viscous coupling gone out and is it maybe stuck in 4x4?
few things to look into to better help you out

Re: Question

Thanks for the reply.I was wondering if it was the rear bearings? It seems to do it at any speed. Then when on the hwy it sounds like its a humming sound.never really noticed before, just lately.
It is not fulltime 4x4,seperate stick and can change on the fly.
Nice to hear from you though, thanks

Re: Question

If it was the wheel bearing you would here it squeaking and when you went around coners you get a bit of a crunching sound.

Re: Question

If it's defiitely coming from the rear the hum I would guess are just the tires and the vibration possibly one of the u-joints in the driveshaft going.

Re: Question

Thanks, never thought of the U joint..Maybe i will also do a tire rotation see if that helps too.
