New grand cherokee vs Old Grand cherokee

Hello all,
Havent been here in a while but i had to ask the community of Jeep lovers a question.
What does everyone think about the new look and design of the
new 2014 Grand Cherokee vs older models, mainly the 93 up to 1999?
I tried finding some good off road material on you tube but could not
find a single really good off road video of the newer models.
Frankly the ones that were classified off road are a total joke.
I mean most cars could handle the garbage that's claimed to be off road.
I actually feel now that despite having less technology in side them, the older Grand Cherokee is Frankly far better in capability. Especially off road ( I mean dirt , mud, angle of attack, ground clearance). I suspect the ground clearance on the newest ones is laughable. I mean seriously. I have a feeling in the future the older ones might just gain some value when compared to whats being offered (especially for off road purposes)
Sorry folks if i strike a nerve here but i had to say something.

Take care all.

Re: New grand cherokee vs Old Grand cherokee

There's no doubt the older models are easier and cheaper to modify. I used to have a 97 zj and now have a 06 wk, and stock vs stock I don't think there's much in it. The sophisticated electronics on the wk definitely make it feel better when the roads turn to snow and ice but how durable they turn out to be, only time will tell. Same thing goes for the mechanical components, the older models had running gear that was proven over a long period of time and abuse. I've already had to change one wheel bearing and a couple of ball joints on the wk. It might be a while before you see many wk's on the trails as the four door jk's seem to have taken over where the xj's left off.
