JGC 2011: HEMI Owners experience

Hello,

I am a proud owner of Liberty 2004 (Limited) that I bought as new and I plan to buy the new Grand Cherokee 2011 (Overland) in 4 months.

I did a short test drive at my local dealer of both the V6 and V8 models and now I am more confused than ever. I really like the power and sound of the V8 and I felt the V6 didn't give me good enough torque at low RPM, if I compare with my Liberty 3.7. To higher RPM though, it is another story as I experienced much better kick-down with the new V6 vs the old.

I am doing an average of 13.4L/100 KM with my Liberty (mostly on 2WD) and would like to know the real numbers I should expect from the 2011 V8. FYI, I don't tow anything.

I want to plan the TCO properly and am bit scared of jumping in the V8. Any thoughts and figures that you guys could give me?

Btw, I really like the fact that I can stay on 2WD on the Liberty but can't find any information whether or not it is possible with JGC 4x4 (canadian model). Is it always running on 4WD?

thanks
-Jonathan

Re: JGC 2011: HEMI Owners experience

My wife has the 2005 GC with the 5.7 Hemi (330 hp) and because its in awd all the time, the mileage is about the same as the 3.7 V6 and that is using mid grade.

I always say, better to have too much power than not enough. The V6 is a dog on the highway and if you want to pass that slow transport quickly, the V8 will make it happen.
