Jeep starter motor
Hello all,
This is a question of confirmation, my dad (was a heavy duty mechanic) and told me that chrysler made the jeeps starter motor to be very low geared so that if needed, you could hold the egnition switch for 30 seconds continuous and finally the jeep would start(had a bad crankshaft positioning sensor). He said chrysler was one of few that did this. This event happened to me in 2003 , the engine would turn over for 30 seconds (no bs) and than it would finally start. It should be noted that this did happen in cold (-5 weather). Any one have any verification on this?? Any and all comments welcomed. |
Re: Jeep starter motor
They use gear reduction starters because they can use a smaller motor, i.e. less copper, which is expensive.
