My 97 just started to leave the interior lights on, anybody have this problem?

Yes it's a common problem on the ZJ's, do you have power locks and an alarm system? If so any issues with them?

Thanks for the reply, I have power locks and an alarm, when I lock the truck the front doors don't lock but the other doors lock, but if I open the front doors when it's locked the alarm will go off but it's been like that for a couple of months since I got it, bought it used, the front door keys are buggared cause they've been punched from previous breakins. Bought a new relay for the interior lights and still have the same problem, when I remove the relay the roof lights are off but the door lights still stay on, guess there on a separate circuit. Yesterday was the first time it really rained and yesterday was when the problem started but I can't see that there related cause the lights are obviously in the inside. So the short term fix is to disconnect the battery. Looks like one of those electrical gremlins, but would hate to take it to a mechanic and pay a fortune for them to hunt down a problem that hopefully someone on this site has had. thanks for any help.

Fixes easiest to hardest.
If your driver's door has dropped a bit then it's not sitting against the arming switch properly. Adjust door.

If the door is solid (no droop) put something on the end of the arming switch and see if it's still being pushed in by the door. If not make up a small spacer to push it in.

If all else fails pull the drivers door panel off and look for a purple wire (may have a yellow stripe on it) it will be the only purple one in there. Trace it from where it comes through the door to where it's plugged in. Leave it plugged in and cut it 3-4 inches back. Tape off the end. The other end that comes through the door gets grounded on any convienient metal surface that you can attach it to firmly. This will cure the problem 99.5% of the time only thing is you won't have the factory alarm operating anymore.

The door doesn't droop. I don't really care that much about the alarm but if I cut that wire on the drivers side what's to say the problem is on that door or does that by pass something

It's an incredibly common problem with the alarm in ZJ's.
