here's a real head scratcher for you tech guys...
i don't want my airbags going off if i thump into something on the trail, but i do want them operational for when i'm not on the trails.
is there any way to set up a by-pass for the airbag system? something like the system used to turn off the passenger airbags with a key in some trucks... ...or maybe something as simple as a toggle switch under the dash? any input appreciated! |

I'd say that there just might be some legal ramifications involved if such a safety feature is made inoperable. I understand that it is illegal to remove the catalytic converter from the exhaust system in order to enhance or improve engine performance too. Just my 2 cents worth.

I worried for awhile about it going off also, but have never seen anyone's go off doing trails/rocks/mud/water or hitting a tree remember ur not doing 60 mph if u doing 10 your speeding. So what are u doing if in 4 low range 1st gear and going over some rocks?

I've heard of other vehicles just having fuses to pull, found this suggestion for you: how to disable Air bag system due to recall - Jeep Garage - Jeep Forum
That said I think most/all airbags have a capacitor that will store power for like half an hour, idea being that should the wiring be severed the airbags will still deploy. |
