Default Hello all from a new guy

Hi all, just bought a high mileage 2008 Limited Grand Cherokee with HIDs for $5000, it has P0234 code and red bolt like blinking sign on also one of TPMS sensors not working but other than that drives well just dropped it off at my mechanic, waiting for VW settlement to complete, return my 2015 Jetta TDI and go back to the good old diesels also car payment free :)........have put aside some money to customize this old boy. Posting here to get guidance as I'm new to the Jeep brand, have had VW diesels for over 20 years so pardon my lack of knowledge. Here's what I want to do once I have it mechanically reconditioned.

New sporty suspension, probably a coil over setup for stiffer yet comfortable ride and straighter wheel well clearance front and back.
Performance tuning with DPF/EGR delete and custom exhaust straight pipe coming out from right side terminating close to the roof line.
After market wide wheel with fat all terrain tires.
Vinyl wrap in some matte color all around not sure which color to go with yet.

Suspension is the first, your input is appreciated please advise.

Thanks.

welcome, you don't say what motor you have or which of the 4 x 4 systems are in it but either way congrats for buying for that price, then again it does have issues you are not sure of. A leap of faith is sometimes a good thing and sometimes not, lol. I'm usually in the chat room until 9:30 or sometimes later. I've done lots of mods on tj's yj's xj's and other things also and even though I'm on my third grand cherokee I've not done much by way of mods on them.

a p0234 is an over boost code, so I will assume it's a diesel. If that is the only code I would be inclined to cancel it and see if it came back. I would not be inclined to delete anything on these motors, they make a lot of torque in the first place and driveshafts are expensive. Can't help with the flashing light thing, the book I have is in french and mostly wrong. Just a thought but if the check engine light is on it's probably killing the performance, mine is definately quicker than the v8 I had before and only uses about half as muchgarding the fuel. regardng the tpms, mine has been niggling all winter about the spare being low on pressure but you have to take the thing down to even check it, let it down last week and it was only five punds low. These things are quite capable off road in stock form and even better with a good set of tyres. My advice would be to clear the problems with it first and drive it for a bit before you start your modifications, you might be pleasantly surprised. One thing worth mentioning, if you need engine related parts (glow plugs etc.) they are cheaper from the mercedes dealer that the jeep dealer. Have fun.
