Grand Steering Box whining
 

Hey guys.... Gotta 2004 Grand that screams on hard left turns only at slow speeds - std wheels and tires.. cannot see anything wrong but sounds bad.....

Anybody been thru that before... whats wrong?

Can you give more detail in the sound? Almost sounds like a bad bearing? Only when steering?

Yes it is a groaning noise but only when turning left at close to full wheel lock..

No sound at all when turning right.... Right tire is more worn also...

Mine has done that for quite a while too...I can't find anything wrong and just accept as "A Jeep Thing"

I don't have irregular tire wear though...

Hi Steve, Have you had someone turn the wheel for you while you watch the steering box? It may be a touch loose and turning the wheel to the left might be moving it just enough to generate some noise.
Have you got a 247 TC by chance?
