General question

I'm considering the 2014 Summit. I heard there are 3 driving ride heights...highway, off-road 1 and off-road 2. How high is the Summit off the ground in the highway mode? Will I be able to drive into a "standard" home garage?

Also, there's a "Park/down" button just bellow. Is that only for when the Jeep GC is stationary? Or would I be able to press this button to drop it to it's lowest height and drive it into my garage?

Thanks.

Too many variables to give a definite answer. How high is your garage door? We put a TJ with a 6" lift and 33" tyres in my neighbors garage last week with no problem and I'm sure a stock wk is not as high as that tj, regardless of what mode the suspension is in.

Sorry. Haven't measured the height of my opened garage. But I think I have a "standard" garage opening. It's a new town home. The Summit would be stock. As I don't plan to modify the one i buy at all. Will measure the opening when i get a chance.

Just assumed you could or could not drive a GC Summit into a garage while in the lowest ride height mode. Pressing the "Park/down" button of the air suspension. Some one said that button only works if the GC is stationary. To be parked.

I guess you would be driving the Summit into a garage in "highway mode" height...however high the Summit is in that mode.

Re: General question

The only thing that might be worth taking into consideration is if you have a steep entrance to the garage as that will rob you of some clearance. What I would suggest is measure your garage opening and then check on one of the sites that sell jeep, you should be able to find sizes etc. in the specs. Perhaps it's in the owners manual, I'll check.

Couldn't find it in the manual but a quick search on the net tells me 67.4 inches. Don't know if that includes the roof rack though.

Re: General question

Hey "oldfart". I still haven't gotten around to measuring. But some how I doubt there should be an issue. I just didn't want to get stuck with a great SUV in the Summit only to find I have to leave it outside. :) So, roughly 67". I'm pretty sure I have more than 72" (6 feet) of clearance. I'm just under 6 feet tall.

And my short driveway (town home w/ double-car garage) doesn't have much of an incline. negligible.

Will measure tomorrow and post again just for the heck of it.

Update: Measured the height. Ground to bottom of garage door when up. There is roughly 73-74". Stood under it. I'm about 5'11". There was at least 3". Seems tight. But the Summit shouldn't have a problem driving in (68.1" w/o racks US Jeep website). Thought the GC's were taller than that. Even at the typical drive height ("highway height").

Question to all GC owners w/ air suspension..once you have it set to "down/parking" can it be driven? Or must it be at least set to "highway height"? Was wondering if i couldn't set it to that ride height and drive the Summit into my garage. Giving me max clearance.
