front end thoughts??

1 Attachment(s)
2000 GC ltd
new rotors & pads
new caliper & bracket (right side)
new axles & hub & bearings 6 months ago

Not Akebono calipers

on the passenger front side getting a clicking sound also on the rotor itself getting a wear mark all the way around the rotor about 3/4" down from the outside diameter and the mark is about 1/8". Once daylight hits I'll try to get a picture of this mark up. It almost looks like the rotor is rubbing on the bracket, is this possible? Again new pads so there is lots of meat on the pads. Makes a terrible screeching and grinding sound.

any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful the only thing I can possibly come up with is the hub bearing has gone bad maybe????

here is a pic of this mark on the rotor I was talking about. there is nothing but the pad itself touching the rotor, pad is clean. this is the SAME mark on my old rotor also which is why I changed them. I changed this rotor last night and have driven about 5km's. Caliper slides and moves fine?? the ONLY thing in the area where that mark is showing is the caliper bracket but I can't see HOW that the rotor would even touch the bracket.

thanks in advance

Re: front end thoughts??

just found this:

HUB & ROTOR RUNOUT?

Usually not a problem with Chrysler vehicles. Hub runout is in the 15 micron range, very tight build and assembly tolerances. A human hair is 90 microns thick. So if somebody uses grease between the rotor and hub and any dirt or grit gets into the joint, it will ---- the rotor and cause runout.

Average runout on most Chrysler vehicles is only 25 microns on hubs/rotors, the Jeep Liberty is 30 microns. Lateral runout spec is 25 microns. (0.001 inch).

which would make the HUB & bearing assy out farther and thus resulting with the rotor pushing outwards possibly?

I'm wondering if the race in the hub assy has gone bad? that could be the clicking I hear if it is cracked. Thus moving the whole assy outwards also??
