Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

I'm an Englishman, living on France; the proud owner of a a 1997 Grand Cherokee limited. The alarm siren needs replacing, so, equipped with the new unit, I took it to the very good local garage. But, he is not a Jeep expert, and cannot understand the instructions, which are written in English...I had the part sent from the UK, as the car is a RHD UK model.
The replacement sirens, are, I am assured by the parts company, all the same for most Chrysler and Jeep models, and I know from my short time in Toronto that in Canada a lot of instructions are printed in both languages, so, if anyone out there has a copy of the siren replacement instructions in French, I would be incredibly truly grateful......
I've tried translating the leaflet, but I;m not getting very far......
Any help much appreciated.

Try http://www.haynes.com/products/productID/228 go here and send them an email telling them exactly what your looking for they may have a french copy of their manuel (they have some of them in spanish so why not french too) The book you have there in english you cannot contact where ever it came from and find a french copy of it? Just a thought. Let us know how you make out.
Heres a website I found that does a pretty good job of translating from one language to another it does sentences really nicely http://www.worldlingo.com/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html

I believe the siren is a non factory part, they don't have them on the gc's here. Best suggestion I could make is find someone there who can translate the instructions for you or just post them on here and someone on here will be happy to translate them for you.

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

That really helpful thank you. I have scanned the fitting instructions, if someone can translate them for me, that might be the answer. Finding a mechanic who speaks and reads French and English with any technical competence is difficult here in France, in England that would be impossible.
I do have a question- how do the Grand CHerokee alarms in Canada work without a siren?

There's an easy answer to that question. The gc's in north america up to 98 do not have factory alarms. If you already have it scanned just post a link to it on here, I'm sure someone will accept the challenge.

I managed to narrow down the exact problem with the garage, that there are five black wires coming off the internal alarm wiring, and only four receptors on the replacement unit. so, I have scanned the relevant part of the fitting instructions- so if anyone can translate this, I will hoist a Canadian flag over the house for the next month.
The words are attached, it's not the clearest of jpgs, but it is readable.
Many thanks to everyone for all the advice.

I'm not surprised they're confused, I've just read through it a few times and it does not make much sense to me either. I hope someone will come in and translate it for you but I don't know if it will be much help. The five wire four connections thing is confusing in any language, especially without appropriate diagrams.

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

Thanks oldfart, I was beginning to doubt my ability to read my native language - I'm not a mechanic, I trained as a journalist, and still work in communications, so badly constructed language of any type is irritating, and in this case very unhelpful.
It also begs the question as to why the replacement wasn't just a plug in unit.
I'm going back to the garage this morning, I reckon I can perhaps point out to the garage guy what needs to be done; living in France it's necessary to speak French, and I speak it reasonably well, but I don't usually need technical language. I don't mind a challenge, though.
Best

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

Sorry I couldn't be more help but when instructions are rubbish it matters not what language they are written in. Completely off topic, but at one company I worked we received a machine that was built in Spain. It came with two instruction manuals, one in Spanish and one translated version. Whenever it was necessary to do any trouble shooting the Spanish version was the only one that was usable, the translated version read like a comedy routine, I still have it somewhere it's hilarious. I'm also from England by the way and no, I don't speak Spanish and my French is limited to Working on machinery or ordering beer, err I mean ordering food. Please let us know the outcome of this problem.

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

Instructions translated with a dictionary and little knowledge of the language are often very funny, and usually useless, I agree. I've now had the relevant parts of the fitting instructions translated, so I took them to the garage yesterday. Once again eyes rolled, and shoulders were shrugged, then they asked if I minded if they called in an auto electrician, so of course I said yes. and that is where it sits. I'm grateful I have the trusty 1991 Merc estate to get around in, as there's not much public transport in this part of France. But, good as it is, it's not my Jeep.

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

It got fixed, the electrician bypassed the siren,so now there is no alarm on the car. But iy drives ok. However, there is a new problem, the panel controlling aircon and ventilation blower and the panel next to it that controls the heated seats are not illuminated, and don't work, resulting in no aircon, nor ventilation, just a lot of very hot air coming into the interior. And this is western France, where spring has arrived, and temperatures are reaching 18C in the day.... any advice, anyone? I called my Jeep dealer in London, and he reckoned he had never heard of this problem. This car is a real dog......

Re: Does anybody have Grand Cherokee siren replacement instructions in French?

I don't know how much of the vehicle he had to pull apart to trace the alarm problem but if he pulled out the panel he might have forgotten to re-connect the electrical and vacuum lines that are connected to it. My initial thought was that it might be a fuse but I believe there are three circuits involved so a disconnected connector somewhere in the harness would be more likely, therefore my suggestion to check the panel connections first and go from there.

Grand Cherokee electrical problems

I don't know what the auto electrician guy did, and the problem didn't appear until I'd driven probably 500 kms after the siren work was done.
My local garage guy is checking the control panels, I saw him start taking them out yesterday, so I'll pass on your words. Thanks again.

Joy of joys - the local garage guy fixed it- he went through every fuse and relay, and discovered one fuse base was corroded- cleaned it, sprayed everything with magic spray and bingo!! (a phrase you might remember from the old country) everything works. However, this car is a real dog, and I plan to sell it as soon as I can.
Thanks for all the advice and help once again. Best, G
