cold air intake

I am in the market for a cold air intake for my GC ltd. Just looking for some input from board members on what one's work better than others. I have a 2000 GC with 4.7L. I also have a Magnaflow cat back exhaust installed.

Hey Birbman how do you like that magnaflow? Is it loud? And does it drone? Something to consider is the cold air intake is going to be louder then whats in there now so if you find it loud now it is going to be very loud with intake. I have a k&n on my 4.7 and stock muffler and that is my concern with putting a muffler on. It gets noisy on the highway when I am pulling a small trailer and the motor is working. It sounds great around town but on the highway it tends to get a little old. Just my 2 cents.

i agree with MATTZ i have a K&N intake and a Magnaflow exhaust(in my ZJ) and it is louder on the highway but even with the 6cyl sounds great driving around town.

Re: cold air intake

I have put exhaust on most of the vehicles I have ever owned, and i will do this Jeep to soon. The funny thing about putting a muffler or intake on a vehicle is it increases the sound. This is what we like right. But somehow when something gets loud it automaticly seems like it is faster which is not always true. But it makes things more fun to drive. K&N says the WJ 4.7 intake is worth 10HP or somewhere near that. Mine is a modified Dakota K&N intake which I kept when my lease was up on my 05 dakota. It also had a Flowmaster and I will put a Flowmaster on my Jeep. Anyway I am not sure if the intake gave me more HP but it sure sounds like it did. And thats OK with me.

I dont think K&N fiter as well as the others so I would go with something that filters better.

Airaid all the way, when I had my K&N I noticed it was letting stuff through, when I got an airaid 3 element filter that stopped, not dirt or anything in the intake tube ever. K&N = Street, airaid = offroad.
Just my 2 cents.
