Default Check engine light

Took a turn, up a slight incline, the jeep started chugging/vibrating, check engine light came on, stopped engine, re-started, seems fine but light is still on....
I don't have an OBD, or afford a mechanic

Any suggestions/ideas??

thanks

see when i got my code, my engine (4.0L) would just turn over but never fire up... im wondering if its just a fluke you got the error message... and everything is ok...

if your feeling brave, clear the PCM by disconnecting the battery and doing the key on off bit... then reconnect the battery...
there could be a small chance the jeep might not fire up, so only do this if you have an alternate means of transportation, and some $60 for a stupid sensor!

that sensor is located on the back of the transmission housing, and is a supreme bitch to get at...
i took the easy route, disconnected the driveshafts, and lowered the transmission and transfercase... but you might be able to get it from up top, just be a PITA...

"CrazyWJ242" What this? clear the PCM by disconnecting the battery and doing the key on off bit.(once or more than once)??.. then reconnect the battery.Thats it to clear the pcm? . Good to know. I had engine light come on the other day was a code P0155 (M) number 2 bank sensor malfunction . I cleared it with the obd11 and it hasn't returned. That only makes it a little rough at first run then cleans itself once the system gets warmed up. Too many senors on these vehicles now. :(

i did that! i was looking at the box beside the battery, and disconnected the battery for the ***** and giggles - re-connected it and ran the on-off tester - all good!

bullet dodged!

thanks folks!

you do the key on - off - on - off -on, or On 3 times, and it should clear all the codes in the PCM... with the battery connected it'll retrieve them on the odometer...

im not sure if the TJ's have this feature or not, most likely though. i know both of my ZJ's do not.

I have to agree 100%, way too many sensors on these vehicles...
