Broken Engine Ground Strap?

http://1drv.ms/1PiALQD

Laredo 2012 3.6L

They look like a cheap flat braided grey line that comes from under the engine and hooks to the frame beside the alternator.

Is this something that I should worry about and repair quickly or it can wait until the end of winter?

Thanks

Re: Broken Engine Ground Strap?

This is what is in two pieces on my 03 tj (attached to hood and firewall) apparently its to reduce the static on the am radio as I have been told., but reading over other post and replies to pretty well the same problem I see it just might have a constructive use. It was there so I'd be inclined to replace it to be on the safe side. Price from ctc is $8.50 for 13 in line.

That type of braided line is usually to reduce interference on am radio stations. Grounds that really matter are usually made of sterner stuff.

Thanks for your answer.

I was wondering if it could be related to the tranny because since a few weeks it feels jerky like "fishbite" when changing gears... Thought it could have been affecting the transmission sensors!
